Gyenyame Beaded Akwaaba Mask
The Gye Nyame Symbol – A piece of African history. The Gye Nyame symbol is arguably the most popular Adinkra symbol – it means “except for God” and expresses the deep faith the Akans have in the Supreme Being. This mask is carved from Osesi wood and fashions the symbol out of glass beads made by hand in Odumase, Krobo. Two rows of cowry shells accent the beautiful craftsmanship.
